About Chen xi

Chen Xi, Erhu Instructor at the Sydney Miya Zhong Yue Music Institute, began learning the erhu at the age of 6 under the guidance of Associate Professor Cai Lu from the Xinghai Conservatory of Music in Guangzhou (a student of Song Fei).

In 2010, she won the second prize in the Guangdong region at the Asian International Youth Art Competition.

In 2009, she participated in the 6th Guangzhou School Art Festival and won first prize in the Folk Music Group.

In 2018, she joined the University of New South Wales Chinese Music Society - Qinyixuan.

With six months of experience in erhu teaching, I am committed to providing personalized guidance, believing that every student possesses unique learning methods and musical perceptual abilities. In my teaching philosophy, I not only focus on imparting technical skills but also emphasize cultivating students' deep understanding of the erhu instrument and their expressive abilities. During the teaching process, I pay special attention to traditional erhu techniques such as "throwing the bow", "rolling the strings", "pressing the strings", "plucking the strings", "jumping the bow", and so on. These techniques are not only the foundation of erhu performance but also important means of expressing musical emotions. Through meticulous demonstration and explanation, I help students gradually master these techniques and encourage them to flexibly apply them in practice to enrich the musical performance.

Through diversified teaching methods and carefully selected repertoire, I strive to inspire students' passion and exploration of this ancient instrument, emphasizing creative learning and encouraging students to freely explore the broad field of erhu music to better interpret their inner emotions and feelings. At the same time, I also focus on cultivating students' comprehensive qualities, believing that through a deeper understanding of the erhu, students can have a broader musical perspective and creative thinking.

拥有半年二胡教学经验，我致力于提供个性化的指导，深信每一位学生都具备独特的学习方式和音乐感知能力。在我的教学理念中，不仅注重技术技能的传授，更加重视学生对二胡乐器的深入理解和表达能力的培养。在教学过程中，我特别关注传统的二胡技巧，如“抛弓”、“揉弦”、“压弦”、“拨弦”、“跳弓”等等。这些技巧不仅是二胡演奏的基础，也是表达音乐情感的重要手段。通过细致的示范和解释，我帮助学生逐步掌握这些技巧，并且鼓励他们在练习中灵活运用，以丰富音乐的表现效果。通过多元化的教学方法和精心挑选的曲目，我着力激发学生对这一古老乐器的热情与探索，强调创造性学习，鼓励学生自由探索二胡音乐的广阔领域，以更好地诠释内心情感与情绪。同时，我亦注重学生综合素质的培养，相信通过对二胡这一独特乐器的深入了解，学生更能拥有更加广阔的音乐视野与创造性思维。
